OUR WORKMANSHIP

Benchmarks of Quality

Modern Electric adheres to the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) Standards for Good Workmanship in Electrical Contracting and the National Electrical Installation standards (NEIS) for performance-specific electrical construction. These go beyond the mandatory minimum safety requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC), requiring that electrical conductors and equipment be installed in a neat, workmanlike manner, with procedures accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Standards

These standards cover many common aspects of the electrical contracting business such as installing conduit, switchboards, panelboards, generators and others. Each contains applicable installation criteria specific to that equipment.

As new technologies and equipment are introduced into the electrical industry, Modern Electric monitors NECA market analyses to stay current on industry developments, including

  • NECA-130 Standard for Installing Wiring Devices,
  • NECA-169 Standard for Installing and Maintaining Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupters and Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupters,
  • NECA-700 Standard for Installing Overcurrent Protection to Achieve Selective Coordination.
  • NECA-412 Standard for Installing and Maintaining Photovoltaic Systems (under development).

Advantages of NEIS and Modern Electric

These quality and performance standards contain additional requirements that go beyond, and extend, basic NEC safety requirements. With Modern Electric, your electrical installation not only meets code — but also matches the shared expectations of owners, specifying engineers, electrical contractors, and the authorities having jurisdiction in your location. Beyond demonstrating the level of commitment and interest in providing quality products and services for our customers, these practices have also created opportunities for growth and competitive advantages in our business.

How Modern Electric Make a Difference

Modern Electric saves specification development time for engineers and designers, by referring to NECA National Electrical Installation Standards. This quality ensures a standard level of performance and quality and integrity in from designs to finished product. Modern Electric educates both employees and customers in understanding the differences between an adequate installation and a higher quality installation of electrical equipment.

Value for Electrical Inspections

Electrical inspectors appreciate the voluntary measures taken by Modern Electric, recognizing details of its good workmanship. Special care is taken as to how the installation should look and how it should perform to meet NEIS codes. Like a teacher grading an “A” paper, experienced inspectors readily identify evidence of superior workmanship in an electrical installation, even though in some jurisdictions, these standards are purely voluntary.

Quality, Professionalism & Honesty

Modern Electric has developed an excellent reputation for meeting and exceeding quality and performance benchmarks for its electrical installations. Adherence to NEIS provides value to all involved. Modern Electric is a facilitator of efficient collaboration in evaluating, installing, engineering, designing, specifying, and selecting components and fixtures — and other aspects of electrical contracting. Modern Electric continues to advance at the forefront of the electrical industry its quest to provide the best service and product for their customers.
